Teachers Need Teachers

For new teachers, many do need mentors. The crying chair is quite amusing to read about and the comments from the readers are even more hilarious with misspellings and higher than mighty attitudes. Anyone who has taught knows the ups and downs of the classroom and the educational system.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I found these poems that I want to share with you. The Grandma poem really brought a strong emotion as we lost my Grandma Pearl this past June. Grandma Pearl was born on Thanksgiving and every year we would celebrate her birthday and I know this year for my family will be a tough one as it being the first Thanksgiving without my grandmother.

We always went to my Aunt's for Thanksgiving and the custom, according to my sister, is still occurring. Unfortunately, we will not be joining my family as they are in New Jersey and we are in Arizona but our thoughts are with them. Through the foods we cook to the easy way of keeping in touch with the phone and the Internet; even though we are 2500 miles apart, technology makes it easier to feel we are closer.

All in a Word

By Aileen Fisher
T for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.
H for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday.
A for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart.
N for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.
K for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon.
S for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that abounds.
That spells ~~~THANKS---for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

~~~~~~~~
At Grandma's House
I like the taste of turkey
Any time throughout the year
But it never
seems to taste as good
As when Thanksgiving's here.
Could be it's all the trimmings
That are cooked with it to eat-
But I think it's
eating at Grandma's house
That makes it such a treat!
It's Friday Already?
Can you believe it's Friday already?
I can't!
It's been an amazing week between coming back from Si's AdWords workshop and learning more about online marketing and copywriting projects, wow!
A few copywriting projects in the works with my friend Ralph Greco Jr. which is surprisingly to us, working out better than we planned.
Started a PearlyWrites newsletter as well as a implenting a few online marketing campaign ideas that I learned and one of the articles on IT Drive, co-authored with Mitch Strohm, had a decent amount of traffic and comments which was a very cool thing to see. OK, it TOTALLY ROCKED!!!
Happy Friday to everyone and keep the words coming...
AdWords Workshop Rocked!!!
This weekend I attended Simon Leung's AdWords workshop in San Jose, Cali and it ROCKED! Simon Rocked and all the guest speakers were awesome!
Matt, Kevin, Rod, Johnnie, Huey Lee, Mark Widawer, Leo, Coach Deb, John Guanzon, Tracy Repchuk, Alejandro, The Twins; everyone rocked!
I presented about "How Optimized Copy Can Help Your Website," and I felt it went alright. Of course when I was finished, all the things I had planned to speak about during the presentation came back to me but for my first time presenting at a workshop, I did a decent job.
For the one's who know me from the classroom, you know I gave out candy for correct answers. I wasn't allowed to throw it around to the participants, so I did a tamer alternatively and passed the bag around the room. I never leave home without candy!
I met some amazing Internet Marketers and they were real life people! Who knew??? John was awesome and spent a lot of time with me running through the basics of Internet Marketing and even let me watch how he develops a landing page. He shared with me ideas of how to get started and I can't wait to begin this week on my first project to see if I can get it up and running.
On a personal note, I brought dresses to wear for the weekend and ended up being extremely cold the entire time. I guess not being in cooler weather for a few years did thin my blood because I never thought 50-60 degrees would literally make me shiver and it did. I only brought a few things to wear and kept layering them each day. I felt like I looked like a bag lady! So unprofessional but it is a lesson I learned for future travels.
The entire weekend and experience was amazing and I would like to thank Si for accepting me as an apprentice AND letting me present at his AdWords workshop. Si, you are a wonderful Mentor and a great person.
P.S. Pictures will be posted soon
AdWords Workshop This Weekend!
I received an email this morning from the AdWords workshop head, Simon, asking if I could do an hour long presentation about SEO, Copywriting and AdWords and how they all relate to each other. Of course I was honored and said, "YES!!!"
I've been a busy bee putting together a PPT presentation which I will be running through the next two days to make it perfect or close to perfect. Then he said if it goes well, they are recording it and then we can develop it into a product!
Will keep everyone informed of how it goes and of any new developments. SOOO Excited!!!
The Google Page Rank Fiasco
As Google continues to dominate and dictate the Internet they seem to acquire the added benefit of determining those Sites that can successfully profit from their services. Sure this seems a little selfish, kind of like the youngest kid in the family who doesn’t want to share his Halloween candy, but it is after all their service.
Striking Writers
The Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producer are on strike and picketing in NY and LA. This morning writer's picketed outside NBC's Rockefeller studios during the live Today Show chanting "No contract, no shows!"
There are many freelancer organizations and associations, especially on both coasts. Are there other organizations not based in the Tri-State or West Coast area?
Does Phoenix, the Mid-West or the South have any organizations?
If not, should we as freelancers start some?
Is there a way for freelance writers to honor our picketing industry colleagues?
Yuwie??? or Yumie???
So I was doing my normal searching around the net as I do quite often and came upon an ad about another social networking site. The difference with this site is it pays you for every click that hits your page.
Think about all the stuff you have on your MySpace page! Blogs, pics, backgrounds, comments, viewing other people's pages...all that would make you money.
How you ask? If you listen to the video presentation they have set up, it will tell you how. How does the world make money? Advertising and sponsors.
If you are interested in checking out Yuwie, it's free and you can just join for fun of connecting to other people.
