I found these poems that I want to share with you. The Grandma poem really brought a strong emotion as we lost my Grandma Pearl this past June. Grandma Pearl was born on Thanksgiving and every year we would celebrate her birthday and I know this year for my family will be a tough one as it being the first Thanksgiving without my grandmother.
We always went to my Aunt's for Thanksgiving and the custom, according to my sister, is still occurring. Unfortunately, we will not be joining my family as they are in New Jersey and we are in Arizona but our thoughts are with them. Through the foods we cook to the easy way of keeping in touch with the phone and the Internet; even though we are 2500 miles apart, technology makes it easier to feel we are closer.
All in a Word
By Aileen Fisher
T for time to be together, turkey, talk, and tangy weather.
H for harvest stored away, home, and hearth, and holiday.
A for autumn's frosty art, and abundance in the heart.
N for neighbors, and November, nice things, new things to remember.
K for kitchen, kettles' croon, kith and kin expected soon.
S for sizzles, sights, and sounds, and something special that abounds.
That spells ~~~THANKS---for joy in living and a jolly good Thanksgiving.

At Grandma's House
I like the taste of turkey
Any time throughout the year
But it never
seems to taste as good
As when Thanksgiving's here.
Could be it's all the trimmings
That are cooked with it to eat-
But I think it's
eating at Grandma's house
That makes it such a treat!
